On May 1st, the 2015 version of the BCA ceased to be the applicable standard for building permit applications. All new applications lodged to the Local Authority must reference the 2016 version of the Code. Applications which do not reference the correct version will be refused.
For the first time, the National Construction Code has moved to a three year cycle as opposed to the yearly change which has always been applicable. Therefore the 2016 Code will be in force until at least 2019.
In addition, there are updated versions of AS 3660.1 – Termite Management, and AS 3786 – Smoke alarms using scattered light, transmitted light or ionization. These Standards become applicable to all new building work which is certified after this date.
If you would like additional information on the new version of the Code or Standards please feel free to drop us a line.
